Christchurch Police have launched a homicide enquiry after a male was fatally wounded overnight.
Police were called to a Redwood address shortly after 2am this morning following an assault.
A 24 year old male appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning charged with murder.
Police are still conducting a scene examination and are speaking to family and friends of the victim.
The family have asked that their privacy be respecting during this traumatic time.
