Christchurch Police seek witnesses to incident

Christchurch Police attended an incident this morning where a 30-year-old man was found with a wound believed to have come from a firearm.

A call was made to emergency services from a service station on the corner of Matipo Street and Blenheim Road at approximately 5:20am, Tuesday 1 November 2016.

The victim walked in to the service station after being shot at a nearby address.

Police are working with the victim, who is in a stable condition in hospital, to piece together exactly what has happened but believe this is an isolated incident.

The unlawful use of firearms is of concern to Police and enquiries into the matter are continuing.

Christchurch Police ask anyone who may have information on the incident to speak to Detective Senior Sergeant Leairne Dow on 03 363 7400.
