Community helps Police catch robbers

1 min read

Thanks to assistance from the community and some great Police work, two men have been arrested in relation to a robbery on Dominion Road, Mt Roskill, around 4pm yesterday afternoon.

The 37 and 36-year-old are alleged to have assaulted a guard outside the BNZ bank before taking a cash box containing a large sum of money.

The offenders then fled in a stolen vehicle.

Thanks to some good information from the public, area patrols and Eagle were able to locate the vehicle shortly after in Mt Albert.

The two men were located nearby, both with large amounts of cash on them. It is believed the full amount has been accounted for.

“These arrests are a fantastic example of what can be achieved with assistance from the public, says Detective Senior Sergeant Geoff Baber.

“We would like to thank the community, as the information provided to us in this situation helped hold to account the people responsible for a serious crime.”

The men have been charged with robbery and are due to appear in Auckland District Court today.
