1 min read

Canterbury Police have made an arrest following investigations into allegations that an employee was defrauding their employer.  The company reported their concerns to Police when unexplained irregularities were discovered in their accounts between September 2013 and October 2014.

It is alleged that the employee, who organised quotes and arranged for work to be carried out for customers, issued company invoices with a personal bank account number for payments to be made to.

It is alleged that the employee obtained a total of $139,266.40 from 16 customers during the 13 month period.

A 26 year old Christchurch man has been arrested and charged with theft.  He is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today.

Police investigations are continuing.

As this is now before the courts Police are unable to make any further comment.
