Dog shot during home invasion

1 min read

North Shore Police are speaking with nine people who, shortly after midnight, were threatened by a gun wielding man who invaded the home they were at on College Rd, Northcote.

The incident unfolded when the unwelcome visitor demanded money from those present. When he didn't get what he came for, he shot a dog up to four times with what witnesses described as an air rifle.

North Shore Area Commander, Inspector Shanan Gray, says the dog is being treated at a local veterinary clinic.

"We are hoping to get some solid information from the victims of this attack that will assist staff to locate him as soon as possible," Mr Gray said.

"Anyone who has information that could assist the investigation is urged to call the Waitemata DCC on 09 488 9754 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
