1 min read

At about 2:15 Sunday morning a Police patrol in Masterton has attempted to pull over the driver of a stolen Honda Civic.

The vehicle failed to stop for Police and although a pursuit was commenced it was abandoned almost immediately due to the dangerous driving of the fleeing driver through the CBD.

A short time later Police witnessed the still speeding vehicle crash into a light-pole on Queen St.

All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to Masterton Hospital.

Two of the occupants were seriously injured in the crash and have since passed away as a result of their injuries.

All occupants of the vehicle are believed to be from Wairarapa and are aged in their mid teens.

A Wellington District Serious Crash Investigator has attended the scene of the crash and investigations are ongoing.  The IPCA has also been informed.
