Hamilton Police seek witnesses to a serious assault

Hamilton Police are seeking witnesses to a serious assault yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 12:30pm on Wednesday 6 July, a 27-year-old female was attacked in her vehicle parked on Tramway Road in Enderley, Hamilton.

The woman pulled her vehicle over to attend to her stereo before being approached by an unknown man who was brandishing a large metal hammer.  

The man assaulted the woman with the hammer before she exited the vehicle and ran towards the intersection of Tramway Road and Powells Road.

When a witness came to assist, the man ran from the scene down a nearby alleyway.

The offender is described as Maori, aged in his early twenties, and wearing a hooded camouflage sweat shirt and black skinny jeans.

The victim received minor injuries as a result.
