Home invasion in Henderson

1 min read

Waitakere Police are investigating a home invasion in Henderson on Sunday night.

At around 7.20pm a man entered a residential property on Legacy Drive, and held a knife to the throat of a woman in her forties.

He threatened the woman and then stole jewellery and other personal belongings, leaving the house a few minutes later.

The offender walked off down Legacy Drive towards Chislehurst Street.

He is described as the following

-Male Maori or Pacific Islander
-Medium build
-Aged in his 20's
-Wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt, black knee length shorts and jandals.

"The offender was carrying a navy blue school bag with a white logo on it, he was also carrying a large black camera bag slung over his shoulder. Sunday night was a very warm evening and lots of people will have been outdoors, it's very possible that someone has seen this man walking down the street carrying these items. We believe this man may be a local and residents may well have seen him before or after he committed this crime." " says Detective Sergeant Peter Litherland, Waitakere CIB.

The victim was left incredibly shaken by the incident, but uninjured. She is being supported by Victim Support.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waitakere CIB on 09 839 0670. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
