Homicide victim stabbed

1 min read

Steven Harris, the 54 year-old man who died after being attacked in Myer's Park at about 11.30pm last night, had been stabbed in the upper body.

Police are still at the scene and this evening will carry out luminol testing to detect blood around a specific area of interest under the Mayoral Drive overbridge which is where Police believe the attack on Mr Harris took place.

Specialist Search Group will be at Myers Park again in the morning in the hope of locating the weapon used against Mr Harris.

"Several items of interest have been recovered from the wider scene today and our objective tonight is to firm up on the attack scene and locate evidence that is not immediately obvious to the naked eye," says Acting Detective Inspector John Sutton.

"We have not heard from any of the three Asian people - two men and a woman - we understand were in the park at the time of the attack so we'd encourage them to contact us, even if they don't have information that could assist the investigation."
