A 21-year-old man was admitted to Hawkes Bay Hospital last night with a moderate facial injury following a domestic related incident.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Darren Pritchard said that the incident at Whitby Crescent, Flaxmere, was attended by ambulance and Police at about 9.15pm last night.
Mr Pritchard said that a weapon was thought to have been used in the assault and that a second male was apprehended at the same address upon Police arrival.
The address will undergo a scene examination this morning.
A 17-year-old Flaxmere man will appear in the Hastings District Court today facing an assault charge.
Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident Mr Pritchard said.
