Incident in Rotorua - UPDATE 4

Police are continuing to investigate an incident in Rotorua today where a man was shot by Police after he threatened staff with a slasher.

An address has since been cordoned off and will be the subject of a search examination tomorrow.

The 35-year-old man has been transferred to Waikato Hospital and remains in a critical condition.

Police are still asking for anyone who was in in the area of Vaughan, Marino and Te Ngae Roads and may have witnessed the incident to please contact Rotorua Police on 07 349 9400.

Anyone with information or footage of the event is also asked to contact police to help build a more detailed picture of what has occurred.

Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously via the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A further update will be provided tomorrow.
