Incident in Seacliff – UPDATE 3

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident in Seacliff this morning, north of Dunedin. Police staff remain on site and a cordon is in place while ESR and police staff conduct the scene examination.

Police can confirm the 59 year-old male who was transported to hospital this morning remains in a critical condition in hospital after receiving serious injuries.

The female who was found deceased in a neighbouring property was a 53 year-old local.

Police have also located a firearm in the Truby King Reserve.

Police are still conducting inquiries, and details such as the link between these two individuals or the injuries sustained form part of those inquiries. As such, police are not in a position to comment on them at this time.

Police continue to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident and residents should not feel concerned for their safety. Staff will continue to remain in the area to conduct further inquiries.

Police also remind locals that a cordon remains in place, and will most likely remain in place until tomorrow.
