Kawerau shooting - three men charged

Three men will appear in court today charged in relation to a shooting in Kawerau yesterday (Friday, 13 September)

The incident occurred at a River Road property at approximately 6.15am. Two men aged 38 and 48 remain in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital.

Throughout yesterday a number of properties in the town were searched and one of those searches during the evening resulted in a 29-year-old local man being located by police.

Subsequent to that arrest two local men aged 21 and 52 presented themselves at Kawerau Police Station.

All three men have now been charged with attempted murder and will appear at Whakatane District Court today.

Police haven’t ruled out further arrests as enquiries continue.
