Man charged following Titirangi incident

Police investigating the death and serious assault of a man and woman in Titirangi have charged a man in relation to the incident.

The 34 year-old will appear in the Waitakere District Court this morning charged with murder and attempted murder.

Police were called to the house on Takahe Drive just before 8pm last night, where a badly injured man and woman were discovered. The pair had been seriously assaulted and the woman died shortly after Police arrived. The man was taken to Auckland Hospital in a serious condition.

The accused was located and arrested by Police a short time later. He is known to the victims and no one else is being sought.

The male victim remains in Auckland Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police can confirm that the victims were husband and wife, their names will be released once their next of kin have been informed.

The scene examination at the property will take several days, and Police will be speaking with neighbours as part of their enquiry.
