At about 5.15pm this evening Balclutha, Milton and Dunedin Police attended an incident at a logging site in the Manuka Gorge area.
The incident was not a logging accident but has resulted in the death of a 7 year old child.
A combined investigation involving OSH and Police has commenced.
Police will not be releasing any further information at this stage as the investigation is in the early stages and next of kin need to be informed.
