1 min read

Media are invited to attend the unveiling of the Wall of Remembrance at the New Zealand Police Dog Training Centre tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 15 March, 2017.

In honour of the 24 Police dogs who have been killed on duty since 1972, Deputy Commissioner Viv Rickard and former police dog handler and Associate Justice Minister Mark Mitchell will be unveiling the wall.

Individual plaques will display each dog’s name, the date they were killed and their handler’s name.

Ten of the dog handlers featuring on the wall will attend tomorrow’s event, seven of which have since retired from New Zealand Police.

The event will begin at 12:30pm at the New Zealand Police Dog Training Centre on Dante Road, Trentham, Upper Hutt.

The unveiling, including speeches, is expected to take approximately one hour. Media should arrive no later than 12:15pm.

Any media wishing to attend the event are asked to RSVP to josie.cochrane@police.govt.nz.
