Missing runner found in Southland

Police and volunteers last night successfully located a missing runner.

At 7.25pm Invercargill Police were advised of a runner missing in Bush south of Omaui near Bluff.

The 33-year-old woman, from Invercargill, went for a run on the track in the Omaui Reserve. 

When she became lost she used her cell phone to contact friends who advised Police.

Contact with the missing person was lost when her cell phone battery died.

Twelve search volunteers from Invercargill LandSAR and Amateur Radio Emergency Communications groups, along with Police staff, were involved in the search.

The missing woman was located by a search team at 11pm. 

She was slightly cold but in very good health.
