New Zealand Police are pleased to be working with the Museum of Transport and Technology to celebrate 75 years of women in policing.

MOTAT is joining Police as the national relay takes place throughout the country for the next four weeks before a parade in Wellington on August 1st 2016.

On Sunday 3rd July 2016, MOTAT will be hosting a Demo Day in Auckland, with a range of activities and presentations covering areas of New Zealand's policing history. These include:

- Fashion shows of vintage and modern-day Police uniforms
- Forensic imaging and fingerprinting demonstrations and activities
- Demonstrations by the:
      Armed Offenders Squad
      Search and Rescue Team
      Dog Units
      Maritime Units
- Exhibitions of:
      Historical Police communication equipment
MOTAT's Police vehicle collection alongside current Police vehicles
- Information about choosing a career with NZ Police

Police Commissioner Mike Bush is proud to have MOTAT commemorating the 75 year anniversary since 10 women began their Police training in Wellington.

“These first women officers should be recognised for their courage, their professionalism and their will to succeed.”

MOTAT are joining New Zealand Police in honouring the extraordinary changes over the years and all the women who have been part of that growth.

“Over the last 75 years there have been challenges for women in the organisation to overcome, however today we are fully committed as an organisation to reflecting the communities we serve.  Today women serve at all levels and in all operational teams of NZ Police and I am very proud of the work they do.”

New Zealand Police encourage everyone to attend the family fun. It will be a unique experience to witness how Police officers work, both past and present, to protect our communities.

The event will take place from 10am - 4pm at M1, MOTAT
