1 min read

Police are now in a position to release the names of the two people who were killed in separate crashes in the Waikato District over the weekend.

At 5.30am on Saturday 4 June 2016 – on SH3 just south of Te Kuiti at Te Mapara – the deceased driver is Anthony Tony Taki Pihema, aged 47-years old, from Hamilton.

At 3.00pm on Monday 6 June 2016 on Harris Street Huntly – the deceased driver is Mark Anthony Taylor, aged 47 years, from Sydney, Australia.

“Police extend our sympathy to both families.  These are two of 11 people who tragically died on the roads over the weekend and our thoughts are with all those who are grieving after losing loved ones,” said Inspector Freda Grace, Road Policing Manager, Waikato District.

“Like so many others, both of these crashes could have been prevented.  Police cannot emphasise enough to drivers the importance of following the road rules and driving to the conditions to ensure that all road users are safe,” said Inspector Grace.
