Name released in fatal crash near Twizel

Police have released the name of the driver killed in the road crash in the Mackenzie Country on Saturday afternoon 30 November.

Taewook Kim, aged 26 years, from the Republic of Korea, was killed instantly when the vehicle he was driving on State Highway 80 (Aoraki/Mt Cook Road) failed to give way at the intersection with State Highway 8, and pulled out directly into the path of a passing heavy motor vehicle.

The passenger in the vehicle, Jeogsu Kim (not related), currently remains in a critical condition at Christchurch Hospital after being transferred there by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
