Napier Police investigate assault

Police are investigating an unprovoked attack which occurred at approximately 1am on Sunday 4 September in Greenmeadows, Napier.

Three friends were walking near the intersection of Atherfold Crescent and Curie Street where they were approached by a group of at least 5 males, described as Maori and aged between 17 and 25-years-old.

The group have demanded property items from the friends before assaulting two of them and taking a cell phone and watch. The victims received facial injuries and one is thought to have been knocked unconscious for a short time.

Police ask anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact the Napier Police Station on (06) 831 0700. Alternatively, anonymous information can be reported to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
