Nelson man arrested in relation to stabbing at Tahunanui Beach

Nelson Police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man in relation to a stabbing incident on Friday evening.
 
At around 9pm on Friday 16 December, two men are reported to have become involved in an altercation near Tahunanui Beach in Nelson.  
 
A woman running in the area - who was not known to either of the men - was then approached by one of the men and stabbed in the leg with a large knife.  
 
The woman received hospital treatment and has been left very traumatised by the incident.
 
Police would like to thank the members of the public who came to the woman's aid and helped Police identify the alleged offender, who was arrested a short time later.   
 
The arrested man is due to appear in Nelson District Court on serious assault charges this morning.
