Statement to be attributed to Detective Sergeant Andrew Compton:

Wellington Police want the public's help to identify the man responsible for a robbery in Newlands on Tuesday 18 May 2021.

The man entered the BP service station on Newlands Road about 8pm and threatened the sole staff member with a knife and demanded money.

The staff member was able to safely relocate to an office area and was not physically injured during the incident.

The suspect left the premises and ran across Newlands Road and got into a car parked on Wakely Road.

We want to speak to anybody who can help us identify the person captured on the store's CCTV footage.

Anyone who can assist can contact Police through 105 and quote file number 210518/8098.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
