A North Shore couple will appear in court tomorrow on drug supply charges, after Police officers found methamphetamine worth more than $800 000 at a Greenhithe home this morning. (Three pictures attached including $80 000 handbag)

Detectives from the Waitemata Police carried out a search warrant on a residential property on Austin Road just after 7am this morning.

The search warrant came after several weeks of investigation into the alleged sale and supply of meth.

Detective Sergeant Callum McNeill of the Waitemata Police, says a total of 800.6 grams of methamphetamine was found at the property, including 20 bags (pictured) that had been packaged and prepared for sale as ounces of methamphetamine.

Each bag of meth, which is no bigger than the palm of a hand, has an approximate street value of around $28 000.00 .

"These twenty bags of meth alone are worth more than half a million dollars. It’s also twenty bags of utter misery and by that I mean the flow-on effects that the sale of this drug would have had on the users, their families, friends and the rest of the community” says Detective Sergeant Callum McNeill.

“This may look like a bag of salt, but this small bag causes so much harm. Not only to meth addicts and their friends and family, but to the rest of the community. It’s the ripple effect it causes, the burglaries, the car theft, aggravated robbery, more often than not they come back to this awful drug” he says.

Police also seized an $80 000 Louis Vuitton handbag (complete with receipt) from the address, thought to have been brought with the proceeds of crime.

“We don’t believe the alleged offenders here are actual users of the drug, this is purely a financial transaction” says Detective Sgt McNeill.

The 32 year-old woman and 34 year-old man will appear tomorrow morning in the North Shore District Court.

Waitemata Police will continue to focus on disrupting and stopping the sale and supply of methamphetamine.
