The woman arrived home at around 2.40pm, when she was confronted by a man in her bathroom. The man physically assaulted the victim prior to fleeing the address.

A large number of Police attended the incident, but the offender wasn’t found and enquries to locate him are continuing.

“We need to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious people in and around the Sunset and Glenfield Road intersection at around 2.30pm” says Det Snr Sgt Nadene Richmond, North Shore Police.

“If you live in that area and perhaps you’ve noticed that someone has tried to break into your house, but you haven’t reported it to us, please do so immediately” says Det Snr Sgt Richmond.

The victim was not hospitalised, but is incredibly shaken. She is being supported by Police and Victim Support.

“We’ll have extra patrols in the area over the coming days, but I’d really like to ask the community to get in touch if they’ve seen anything that seemed a bit unusual” she says.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the North Shore CIB on 09 477 5000.

Information can also be given anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
