One arrested after man struck by car

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident on Ohauiti Road, Tauranga this morning that has left a man in hospital with a number of injuries.

The incident began at approximately 8am in the car park area of Palmers garden centre when two men and one woman became involved in an argument. At one stage during the dispute one of the men was struck by a vehicle being driven by the other man.

A 51-year-old Tauranga man was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital a number of relatively serious injuries.

A 28-year-old man from Tauranga is appearing in Tauranga District Court today charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police are currently reconstructing this morning’s events and want to hear from anyone who saw all or part of the incident.
