One person has died and five others have been injured in a crash on SH5 north of Rotorua.
The crash occurred at 11.45am today (Tuesday, 5 January) at Turakenga and involved three cars and one truck.
An occupant of one car has died at the scene. At this stage police are advised that one other person has suffered serious injuries, one has moderate injuries and three have minor injuries.
The road is likely to be closed for some time. Traffic heading into to Rotorua is being diverted via Turakenga Road and traffic heading towards Hamilton is being diverted onto Dansey Road and then Turakenga Road.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
