Op Renovation - New search phase begins tomorrow

Christchurch Police will tomorrow begin another search phase of Operation Renovation, the investigation into the disappearance of Michael McGrath.

This new search phase will be focused across areas in Christchurch including; Ellesmere, Lincoln and Halswell. These searches are based on information and sightings we have collected throughout the investigation.

The goal is to locate evidence in relation to the Michael’s disappearance, on or around 21 May 2017.   

Operation Renovation continues as a major investigation for the Canterbury CIB and the investigation team are committed and driven to solve the case and bring some closure to Michael’s family.

A team is also continuing the large-scale search of the Kate Valley Landfill to locate further items of interest to this case.

So far, Police have searched through approximately 2000 tonnes of rubbish and are expected to be there for another few weeks.

Police also remain in close contact with Michael’s family and continue to offer them support as the investigation progresses.
