Waikato Police say cooperation with Bay of Plenty colleagues in the search for a high-risk armed offender highlights the value of a whole of Police solution to serious crime.
Acting Detective Sergeant Paul Galletta of the Te Awamutu CIB said Waikato officers joined with local Tokoroa staff and members of the Bay of Plenty Armed Offenders Squad to cordon off the Amisfield area of Tokoroa after a reported sighting of Moanaroa KIDWELL about 9.30am today.
"KIDWELL has a warrant issued for his arrest in relation to a series of social media linked aggravated robberies involving the sale of motorbikes over recent weeks.
"Cordons were placed on a small number of roads in the area however Kidwell was not located. Early this afternoon however, a silver Subaru sedan, registration number EKY117, was located at Hamilton's Waikato Hospital and a person of interest to the inquiry was apprehended."
Mr Galletta said with KIDWELL remaining at large any sightings of him should be reported to Police via 111 immediately and he should not be approached.
