Operation Concord update + weekend arrangements

1 min read

This weekend:
Newsrooms please note that any Operation Concord updates from Police this weekend will most likely be included in any statements being issued by the Ministry for Primary Industries.

At this time we do not anticipate holding any media conferences over the weekend.

If however there are any significant developments to report then we will of course respond as required and advise media.

Summary of statement given by Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement at the 10am media conference on Friday 13th March:
The Police investigation continues to progress.  As of this morning we have received 68 contacts either by telephone or other avenues from the public since we announced the threat on Tuesday.

These contacts have offered a variety of information, all of which are being carefully assessed for their relevance to the investigation.

We are heartened by this response. It shows that the public are behind us in our strong focus on identifying the person responsible. I would keep encouraging anyone with information to get in touch with us. Again - if you are not sure if your information is relevant then please call us anyway and let us make that assessment.

Police in all districts have been progressively visiting dairies and other small retailers selling infant formula. This is to distribute information for consumers and retailers on behalf of the Ministry for Primary Industries.  As of this morning our staff have visited 253 small retailers around the country and that work will continue today and over the weekend.

We are continuing to talk to a large number of people who may have information relevant to the inquiry. Again I stress that just because we are talking to someone does not make them a suspect.

The investigation team remains fully focussed, and will be working through the weekend on Operation Concord.
