Manawatü Police are continuing with their scene examination at the Ormond Street property.
The deceased man's body was removed from the property at about 3pm this afternoon. The body was transported to the Palmerston North Hospital where a post mortem will be conducted tomorrow.
A local Kaumatua performed a blessing and karakia at the property as the body was removed.
The scene examination is expected run into the next 24 to 48 hours and officers are continuing to take witness statements and complete an area canvass.
Officers are currently working with the family to complete formal identification.
