Operation West update #3

1 min read

Manawatu Police are moving into the second phase of their area canvass as they work to determine the circumstances behind the death of a man whose body was found in Taieri Court (6 August, 2015) yesterday morning.

The man’s body was removed from the scene late yesterday afternoon and a post mortem will be conducted at Wellington Hospital this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan says: “We made some good progress yesterday with our area inquiries and officers spoke with a large number of residents in the surrounding area.”

“Today we will widen our inquiry area in an effort to gather as much information as possible. As well as witness statements being taken, the scene examination is ongoing and is expected to be completed by tonight.”

A blessing will occur at the scene once the examination is complete.

“Progress is being made in relation to the victim’s identity, however we are still not in a position to confirm who they are, and we are working hard in this space so we can inform their family.”

A further update on this inquiry is likely to be issued late this afternoon.
