Canterbury Police would like to thank the members of the public who witnessed the incident outside Christchurch Casino at around 1am on New Year’s morning for coming forward.
Police have assessed the information provided and reviewed CCTV and other video footage in order to determine what occurred.
A 28 year old man has been charged with assault and is due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Thursday (21 January 2016).
Police are unable to provide any further comment as the matter is now before the courts.
