Police appeal for information after suspicious fire

At about 3am today (8 June, 2015) the Fire Service and Levin Police were called to a fire at a property in Mako Mako Road, Levin.

A member of the address called emergency services and the detached garage at the property was well ablaze when they arrived at the scene.

The fire was brought under control however the garage sustained major damage as a result of the fire.

Police and Fire Safety investigators have examined the scene and are treating the fire as suspicious.

Detective Sergeant Peter Vine of the Levin CIB says: "It is the second arson at the property in 30 days and thankfully no one has been injured or killed."

"We are completing an area canvass and making inquiries and we strongly encourage anyone that has seen any suspicious activity or vehicles in the Mako Mako Road area, or has any information about the arsons to contact police."
