1 min read

Counties Manukau Police are appealing to the public for sightings of a silver BMW, after an assault which left a 56 year-old man in a critical condition in hospital.

The victim and his friend were walking home from a function at 1.50am this morning. They were on St George Street, Papatoetoe, when they were both assaulted by a man. The first victim, aged In his forties, appears to have been knocked out and when he came around he saw his friend lying unresponsive on the footpath.

The offender got into a silver BMW, which was being driven by a woman.

The car did a U-turn towards Wyllie Road, Papatoetoe.

A security guard who happened to drive past shortly after the incident stopped and provided assistance and called emergency services.

The 56 year-old man was taken to Middlemore Hospital. He has now been transferred to Auckland Hospital, in a critical but stable condition.

His friend was not hospitalised.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Counties Manukau Police on 09 2611 321.

Information can also be given anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
