Police appeal for witnesses to alleged assault

1 min read

Christchurch Police were alerted to an alleged assault of a 19 year old man on Bencard Place, in the Hoon Hay area of Christchurch, shortly before midnight on 26 October 2014.

The man had left a friend’s house and was walking home when it is alleged that two people got out of a four door sedan and one assaulted him with what appeared to be a glass bottle neck.  The two people are reported to have left the scene in the car when the victim’s friends came out of their house after hearing him shouting for help.

The victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital and has been treated for a single non-penetrating stab wound to the chest.

Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen a four door sedan leaving the area around that time to contact Christchurch Police on 03 372 5710.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
