Police appeal for witnesses to Harper Ave dispute

Canterbury Police are appealing for witnesses to a dispute between two motorists on Harper Avenue, 100m from Carlton Corner, in Christchurch at approximately 3pm on Monday 24 November 2014 to contact them.

The two men were driving a  dark coloured people-mover and a dark coloured sedan.  

One of the two men, who was in his 60's and received a head injury during the traffic dispute, passed away in Christchurch Hospital at 12.20am this morning (9 December 2014).

A post mortem was completed this morning.

Police inquiries into the incident and to establish the cause of death are continuing.

Canterbury CIB Field Crime Manager, Detective Inspector MURTON, said "Police are investigating the circumstances which resulted in the man receiving the head injury and ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them.  At this stage there are no indications that the deceased man was assaulted by any other person at the time of the dispute. Canterbury Police’s Serious Crash Unit and CIB are working together on the investigation and the other man involved in the dispute has been spoken to by Police but is yet to be formally interviewed."
