Police calling for information following incident in Hamilton

Waikato Police are calling for sightings of a vehicle involved in an incident in Hamilton yesterday where a young girl was accosted.

At about 8:30 am yesterday a 12 year old girl was walking to Whitiora Primary School when she was accosted by a male on Abbottsford Street, Hamilton near the school grounds.

The offender was linked to a vehicle described as a silver mid-nineties Nissan Pulsar four door sedan.  The vehicle is distinctive in that it has red rose stickers around the driver side front guard and damage to the rear. There were two other males in the vehicle.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of a vehicle fitting this description, or who saw the vehicle in the Hamilton area between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m.

The offender who accosted the girl is described as a short male, Maori between 30 and 40 years of age, wearing a black beanie, white singlet and dark baggy pants.  He was wearing distinctive red and black stripy socks which were pulled up over his pants and no shoes.

Police would also like to hear from a woman walking her puppy along Abbotsford Street around 8:30 a.m. yesterday morning who may have witnessed this incident. The puppy is described as a Siberian Husky type dog.
