Northland Police investigating the death of 4-week-old Maree Takuira Mita Ngahere have charged a man with her murder.
The 22-year-old man faces one charge of murder. He also faces a charge of assault on a child, in relation to a separate matter.
The man is due to appear in the Kaitaia District Court tomorrow.
“I would like to thank the Far North community for their information and support throughout this investigation,” says Acting Detective Inspector Lloyd Schmid.
As this matter is now before the Courts, Police are unable to comment further.
