Police investigating theft at Upper Hutt tavern

1 min read

Hutt Valley police are currently investigating the theft of a large sum of money from the Rimutaka Tavern yesterday, Monday 21 March 2016.

The incident occurred at approximately 1.00pm at the address on Fergusson Drive in Upper Hutt.

It appears that a male who may have been a patron inside the tavern has jumped over the bar when staff members were in a back room and removed the till drawer. The staff member has then noticed the till drawer was missing a short time later and contacted police.

Police are currently making enquiries into the matter and a scene examination was completed today. Police will also be reviewing CCTV footage of the event to identify the offender.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who was in the Fergusson Drive area around 1.00pm yesterday who saw anything suspicious, and ask them to contact the Hutt Valley Police on 04 5602600.

Alternatively, Information can also be provided anonymously via the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
