Canterbury Police can now name the victim of a fatal crash between a car travelling north-bound and a south-bound truck on SH1 (Greta Road), just south of the Hurunui River, on 29 December 2014. She was 61 year old Huia Rahera SIMEON from South Canterbury.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
Ms SIMEON was the driver of the Subaru car involved in the crash and her passenger, a young child, was taken to hospital as a precaution. The truck driver and his two passengers were uninjured.
A spokesperson from Ms SIMEON’s family said “we would like to thank everyone who has supported us and ask the media to respect our request for privacy while we are mourning our tragic loss”
Police investigations into the crash are continuing.
