Over the last few weeks there has been series of commercial burglaries extending from central Wellington to the Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and as far north as Otaki and Levin.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Compton says the offenders are in and out very quickly, taking cash tills and safes. "It appears that they will focus their attention on a specific business and target a number of locations over subsequent nights".

"As our investigation continues, we are seeking the assistance of the public to help us identity a person captured by CCTV footage at one of the burglary locations.

"Anyone who recognises this man or is able to help us with our enquiries can call the Wellington District Crime Squad on (04) 381 2070.

"Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"This is a timely reminder to commercial business owners to be vigilant and to secure all cash at the end of each day. If you see a burglary in progress, or any suspicious behaviour, contact Police straightaway by calling 111," says Detective Sergeant Compton
