Police seek the help of the public after a hammer attack at Egmont Village early Sunday morning

At approximately 1:45pm on Sunday the 6th of  March 2016 the driver of a black Nissan Safari motor vehicle used a hammer to smash the windscreen and driver’s window of an orange Holden commodore utility vehicle before assaulting the driver.

As a result of the assault the victim received minor injuries.

This occurred outside the Egmont Village Tractor Spares beside the Rural Fuel petrol station on State Highway 3, Egmont Village, Taranaki.

The offender then drove off in the black Nissan Safari on State Highway 3 towards Inglewood. He was arrested a short time later without further incident.

At the time State Highway 3 was busy with traffic and Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, or to anyone seeing either vehicle in the area to contact their local Police. Information can be given anonymously by ringing the Crimestoppers freephone on 0800 555 111.
