Christchurch Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of 14-year old Christchurch boy Chinyanta Mfwembe CHINYANTA [correct] who has been missing for two weeks.

Senior Constable Andrew Ross says Zimbabwe-born Chinyanta has not been in contact with family members since leaving his family home in Sydenham on Tuesday 7 January.

Senior Constable Ross says Chinyanta has lived in New Zealand with his family for five years and speaks English well.

"At this stage we do not have any specific fears for his safety. He has gone missing before, and there have been sightings of him in the past two weeks.

"However it is of concern to Police and to his family that he has not been in touch with family members for this length of time."

Senior Constable Ross says Chinyanta has been seen in recent days at Time Zone in Westfield Mall, Riccarton, and on a bus travelling towards Halswell.

He is also known to hang out at The Palms, Shirley, and in the vicinity of the Linwood Ave/Buckleys Road intersection.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Constable Ross on (03) 363 2543, or Christchurch police on (03) 3637400.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
