Police urge missing man to come forward

Early this morning, Wellington Free Ambulance staff pulled over a vehicle on SH2 near Avalon due to concerns about the erratic nature in which the vehicle was being driven. 

The male driver of the vehicle ran away, headed towards the Hutt River, when he learned Police were en route.  An extensive search including dogs, SAR and a helicopter has failed to locate the man. 

Police would like to make contact with the man to ensure his safety. Police wish to assure the man, and his family and friends who may know his whereabouts, that Police just want to make sure he is safe and well. He is not facing any charges in relation to this matter.

The man Police are looking for is described as African of skinny to medium build and was wearing a red t-shirt and black shorts.
