Rotorua assault to feature on TV appeal

1 min read

Popular crime show Police Ten-7 will be assisting Rotorua Police tomorrow night to try and find those responsible for an assault in the town.

In the early hours of Saturday, 14 March, a short verbal exchange between a group in a vehicle and some people walking along Ranolf Street turned violent.

One of the men from the vehicle used an air rifle as a club and a short time later the vehicle mounted the footpath directly towards a group of pedestrians. As it reversed it struck two men leading one being taken to hospital. It is described as a dark 4WD similar to a Nissan Terrano or an Isuzu Bighorn with a small bull bar on the front and a spare wheel on the rear.

Video footage taken by a witness will feature on the show in the hope that viewers can help identify those involved.

Anyone who might be able to assist with this investigation is encouraged to watch the appeal at 7,30pm on TV2 (Thursday, 16 April).

Information can also be provided directly to Detective Neil Collins at Rotorua Police on 021 191 6108, or anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be referred to Communications Manager Kim Perks on 027 234 8256.
