Search for Dutch tourist enters third day

Searching has resumed for the third day for 26 year old Dutch tourist Ken Boogers.

Mr Boogers was last seen on the Pillar Point track which is in the area between Wharariki and Puponga in Golden Bay on Saturday. There have been no further confirmed sightings of him since that time.

This morning three ground teams with two specialist search dogs are scouring the area for any sign of the missing man.

The weather in the search area is again fine today however concern is growing for Mr Boogers’ welfare given the length of time he has been unaccounted for.

Search coordinator Sergeant Mike Fitzsimons said despite extensive searching which was now into its third day by a large number of LandSAR personnel and Police no sign of Mr Boogers had been found.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has seen Mr Boogers since Saturday. Anyone with information should call Nelson Police Ph 5463840 or Takaka Police Ph 5259211.
