Mary Berrington

Police hold grave concerns for 62 year old Mary Berrington of Upper Hutt.

Mary was at home on the evening of 19 July 2016 and has gone missing sometime after this.

Police Search and Rescue Sergeant Anthony Harmer says Wellington Police Search and Rescue are being supported by Wellington Land Search and Rescue, Upper Hutt Community Rescue, Hutt Emergency Response Team, and concerned family members.

Mary has a degree of mental impairment so may not be in a position to help herself at the moment. All residents in the Wallaceville and Whakatiki area of Upper Hutt are asked to check their backyards and any structures such as wood sheds or garages in case Mary is taking shelter in them. It is also likely that Mary may be hiding in bushes.

Members of the community who wish to help with the search effort are asked to stay on the main streets, public areas and tracks and look at areas where Mary could be able to hide from view if it is safe to do so.

Anyone who finds Mary is asked to call 111 in the first instance.
