Street Robbery in Rotorua

Police are investigating the robbery of a Rotorua man last night.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30pm Wednesday 6th July on Old Taupo Road, by York Street in Rotorua.

 

The victim, aged in his 20’s was threatened with a blunt instrument but was not assaulted.

 

The offender stole the man’s wallet and contents, his mobile phone and Kathmandu jacket.

 

The offender was described as a male, fair skinned Maori, in his late teens to early 20’s with a small build. He used a bandana to cover the bottom half of his face.

 

The offender left the scene in a black coloured van with white markings on the side. The vehicle was described as being lowered with a loud ‘boy racer’ sounding engine. It had bright blue tinged headlights.

 

Police want to hear from anyone around Old Taupo Road, Rotorua or the Glenholme area last evening, who saw or heard anything suspicious to call Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
