Gore Police were alerted to a missing child at about 9.30pm last night.
When reported to Police a search had already been started by family, friends and neighbours. Police and LandSAR commenced a land search in the area and located the child unresponsive at approximately 11.15pm in a pond. Despite the best efforts of the search team the child was unable to be resuscitated.
Police thank those volunteers and neighbours who assisted in the search.
Our condolences are with the family who have asked for privacy at this time.
Police will be making inquiries today on behalf of the Coroner.
